Welsh Mountain Ponies Section (A)

Hello and welcome let me firstly introduce ourselves our names are Raymond and Michael.

Emmarr Stud is based in Shropshire, we are new to the welsh mountain pony circuit, after 30yrs working with our thoroughbreds in the point-to-point scene.

We moved from East Sussex to Wales 5yrs ago predominantly to acquire more land so as to train point-to-pointers. after a riding accident which involved a fractured femur and cracked hip it soon became apparent that this journey of dreams was no longer viable.

Our love for the thoroughbred is still very evident but, after much sole searching we made a decision to permanently loan out our last two beloved friends.

During our time in wales we bought a Welsh section (a) pony (Hofis) from the local sale, mainly to keep the bigger horse, left in the field company. we also felt it would be good fun to show him at local level. this was the real turning point in our lives!!

We moved to Shropshire in November 2004 we were sure that we wanted to have more of these hardy, spirited characters. as luck would have it the estate agent used, was also a breeder of welsh section (a)&(b) and just happened to have a colt by blackhill picalo for sale (breeding we frequently admired when attending shows). on moving we purchased this colt who since has taught us an awful lot about dealing with youngstock.

Since this period of time we have grown, and now have five ponies.

Our aim for the 2006 season is to show our ponies and learn the trade. we obviously would like to meet and make new friends in the showing world.
